July 16--North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue had a demanding Saturday evening.

A-Battalion responded to 16 incidents alone after 12 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the fire station.

The incidents included structure fires, a residential fire, a car wreck and a distressed swimmer call, the post says.

Crews were dispatched around 5 p.m. for a reported structure fire in Barefoot Landing near Peace Frogs. When crews arrived, they found a small fire outside on the deck that had already been extinguished.

Around the same time, crews were also responding to a fire alarm on Ocean Boulevard.

Units were then dispatched around 6:30 for a residential structure fire on 38th Avenue South behind Windy Hill Hardware, according to the post. After crews arrived, they found a working fire inside a double wide mobile home and managed to prevent it from spreading to a neighbor's home after knocking down the majority of the fire from the outside.

That fire was finally cleared just before 8:30 p.m., the post says.

Due to crews being so busy, Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue and Calabash Fire assisted in providing coverage.

While crews were working the fire on 38th Avenue South, Beach Patrol, North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad Water Rescue, Horry County Fire Rescue Medic 32 and Engine 741 responded to a call about a possible swimmer in distress around 700 S Ocean Blvd.

According to the post, after a watercraft was deployed family members discovered the swimmer had made it safe out of the water at a different location.

There was also a car wreck involving two cars in front of Alligator Adventure on Highway 17 which caused heavy traffic in both directions.

During that same time, more crews were handling a pole fire in the 3300 Block of North Ocean Blvd.
